Vivat Bacchus’ Charity Event Raises Over £20,000 for Africa Education Initiative

London’s premier South African restaurant, Vivat Bacchus, successfully hosted its highly anticipated Charity Braai Feast on 24th January, World Education Day, raising an impressive £20,250 in support of the Africa College Foundation (MII UK) and its transformative Education Town initiative.
The event, attended by 33 passionate supporters, was hosted by Ed Jordan, renowned keynote speaker and leadership coach. Guests were treated to a three-course South African Braai Feast, complemented by an exclusive South African wine tasting, all in the spirit of funding and inspiring educational opportunities for marginalised youth in Africa.
A major highlight of the evening was the charity auction, featuring a stunning fine-art photography piece donated by world-renowned photographer David Yarrow, which drew competitive bidding from attendees. The proceeds from the auction, along with generous donations throughout the night, contributed significantly to the total amount raised.
Inspiring Keynote Speeches
Attendees were deeply moved by Dr. Taddy Blecher, the visionary behind Education Town, who shared insights into his groundbreaking project aimed at transforming Johannesburg into an education and innovation hub. His speech underscored the urgency of investing in Africa’s youth.
James Dawson, CEO of Vivat Bacchus, also reaffirmed the restaurant’s commitment to making a meaningful impact:
“It was incredible to witness the generosity and passion of our guests tonight. Meeting Dr. Blecher and learning about his vision for Education Town has been profoundly inspiring, and we are proud to support this initiative. The funds raised tonight will directly provide education opportunities for those who need them most.”
A Night of Generosity and Impact
Each ticket sold at the event will fund four students for an entire year, providing them with access to demand-driven education, entrepreneurship, and employment opportunities. This is just the beginning of an ongoing partnership between Vivat Bacchus and Africa College Foundation (MII UK) to empower Africa’s next generation of leaders and innovators.
For those who missed the event but still wish to contribute, donations can be made via the Africa College Foundation website. Another event has been scheduled for mid-June with more details to be released soon.
